BETAA Consultants Limited is an electrical consultancy company that specialises in all live line disciplines from Transmission live line hot stick and barehand through to Distribution live line hot stick and glove & barrier.

The company commenced operations in July 1997 to provide the Electrical Industry with an independent and comprehensive consultancy and training service.

BETAA Consultants Limited is a New Zealand Qualifications Authority Registered and Accredited Private Training Establishment which means we can deliver unit standards on the National Qualifications Framework and make application for training subsidies via the Electricity Supply Industry TrainingOrganisation.

BETAA Consultants Limited also provides an extensive auditing function of live line work in the field.

To provide a professional training, assessing and auditing service to the Electrical Industry at an extremely competitive cost without compromising the highest quality of service.
To assist Electrical Companies to achieve Zero lost time incidents and accidents by ensuring that the highest quality safety work practices and procedures are incorporated into training programmes and by carrying out effective auditing and safety refreshers.

BETAA Staff

Michael Burke - Managing Director/Consultant

Mike has 32 years transmission line work experience. He brings to BETAA Consultants Limited a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of line work. Mike's most recent role, before setting up BETAA Consultants Limited, was that of Senior Instructor at Transpower's Omaka Training Centre, Blenheim. Mike has been a qualified transmission live line Instructor for 15 years and has been involved extensively in every aspect of transmission hot stick and barehand training during that time. He is also a qualified workplace assessor an ESITO registered moderator & a Ministry of Economic Development Instructor/Examiner in Distribution live line hot stick (since 1995) and glove & barrier techniques (since 1996).
To date Mike has trained in excess of 160 glove & barrier line mechanics. Mike is New Zealand's only live line instructor in all 3 live line disciplines i.e. transmission hot stick & barehand and distribution hot stick and glove & barrier.

Charmaine Burke - Director/Office Manager

Charmaine has 30 years experience in Clerical/Word Processing with Government Departments, Electric Power Companies and Manufacturing Companies. She also worked at Transpower's Omaka Training Centre for 3 years and was instrumental in setting up the office system there and assisting in the development of its Quality Assurance system. This experience has proved to be very invaluable.

She also has very good knowledge of the electrical industry and the training system.
Charmaine is currently completing her New Zealand Diploma in Business.
